The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 6.2
For sure, YouTube is the richest audiovisual library available worldwide today. There you can find music, movies, videos, documentaries, and much more. For many reasons, you may want to download part of that vast content and keep local copies of it on your PC.
If this is your case, you may consider using a tool such as ZillaTube. It helps you download and convert any YouTube video in just minutes.
The program offers a simple and intuitive user interface whose visual design, however, needs to be widely improved. Basically, the program asks you to paste the URL of the YouTube video you are interested in, and click a button to download it. ZillaTube only downloads videos in the original format it was uploaded to YouTube (e.g., FLV format). Then, you will need to drag the downloaded file and drop it over the program's main window to preview the video and to convert it to your desired format. Unfortunately, ZillaTube is not capable of performing this action for you automatically.
The program can convert the downloaded video files into multiple audio and video formats. As an example, you can choose among MP3, WMA, WAV, WMV, AVI, MPG, PowerPoint, VCD, and DVD. Alternatively, you can also select among several presets designed for specific models of portable devices, such as iPod, Nokia, Samsung, Blackberry, and Zune, as well as 3GP, 3G2, and MP4 devices, among others.
To sum up, ZillaTube is a software tool capable of downloading and converting video files from YouTube, though you need to perform these tasks separately and manually, which I consider to be a considerable disadvantage of this program.
